Don’t forget the little things when installing a shower

This is not exactly the glamorous end of a bathroom re-design project.  However, if you are planning a new shower then it is important to consider the shower waste.

As with most things there are plenty of options available depending in your budget and the spec of the shower you are choosing.    This article is a guide to what you need to consider;

Cheap shower traps

It’s easy to be tempted into reducing the cost of your shower refurb by skimping on the stuff you don’t see.   I personally don’t take this view.  If a shower waste goes wrong and leaks you can be left with a bigger bill.  Damp floor boards could end up costing you thousands.

Make sure you get a quality product that’s durable and reliable.  Manufacturers like Hansgrohe, Geberit and Matki are all worth looking at.

Plastic or metal wastes

There are benefits for both materials.  If you are choosing a metal waste then you need to ensure that it has a proper finish.  If it is nor properly finished the waste system will rust very quickly due to frequent use.

Plastic shower waste is the most common and will obviously not suffer from rust.  However, cheaper plastic are prone to breakages and will need repairing.

When choosing a shower waste ensure that you get the right fixings and dimensions for your shower.  As always Ocean Bathrooms can help you pick the right system for your new or existing shower.  Call us on 01308 420011.
