Should you choose an Acrylic bath
Last week I wrote about the cast iron baths and there benefits over an Acrylic Bath. This week, I thought I would re-address the balance and discuss how an Acrylic bath has its place in British Bathrooms.
Getting the look right
One of the first major benefits of an acrylic bath is that they can be fashioned into all different styles that would suit most people.
You simply have to look and the Victoria & Albert range to see a well designed bath. But remember you are paying for that designer.
Is an Acrylic Bath cheaper?
In theory yes, but with everything there are always exceptions to the rule. The afore-mentioned Victoria & Albert baths can set you back a few thousand pounds. And the Duravit range of Baths are not too far behind.
However, generally speaking they can be cheaper, as the materials involved are easier to work with.
Benefits of an Acrylic bath
- Wide variety of styles
- Warmer to the touch
- Easier to install
- Easier to maintain
- Tapholes can be drilled on site
- Can be cheaper
Downsides of an Acrylic Bath
- Not as sturdy
- Plasticky to the touch
- Do not retain the heat as well as cast iron bath.
