Geberit Monolith: The elegant alternative

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

You know when a company has been trading for over 135 years then there is something special there.  So it’s no surprise that the latest product the Geberit Monlith wall hung toilet, falls into the same category.

Lauded as the most innovative products to date, the Geberit Monolith took centre stage at the KBB show in Birmingham.

Unquestionably stylish, the Monolith removes the hassle of re-tiling and re-plumbing to achieve the wall hung look.

Greater selection thanks to new sanitary module

Geberit’s Monolith wall hung toilet now offers an additional alternative. The elegant sanitary module for WCs with integrated cistern can be connected to existing waste water and water supply connections without any construction modifications just as easily as a close coupled toilet. No chiselling, no tiling, no dirt. Geberit Monolith cleverly conceals the exposed cistern behind glass and its slim design creates a contemporary concealed look.

Unlimited application range

The innovative sanitary module fits in with every drain, irrespective of whether in the floor or in the wall.

Big Brother bathroom – get the look

Friday, June 25th, 2010

So Big Brother is now in fully swing.  I wonder if it’s because it’s the final series that the producers have made the house more replete that ever.  No more so than the bathroom

Aqata minimalist wetroom

Aqata minimalist wetroom

Walk-in Glass cubicle

The Aqata Minimalist Wet Room walk-in Shower Minimalist Walkiin Shower really brings a minimalist look to your bathroom.   As with the Big Brother Bathroom the all glass walk-in shower design fuses exceptional construction quality with a clean minimalism.

You also need to consider a aqua deck flooring. The Aqua-Dec is designed to provide the installer with the means of instantly creating a wetroom shower floor base, without the worry or hassle of having to manually create falls, or setting drains into a sand and cement mix. The ‘Dec simply slots in alongside the existing floor boards and is connected to a drainage outlet. It just rests on the joists and is screwed into position, then you tank the floor including the ‘Dec and it’s ready to tile. It doesn’t get any easier than that!

Shower head

The double Shower head looks to me like a Hansgrohe Raindance AIR plate, which we like a lot at Ocean Bathrooms.  The AirPower infuses water with air to give a more voluminous spray.  It has a QuickClean system for easy removal of lime scale.

Lighting

The Big Brother bathroom showcases the very latest in Chromatherpy lighting.

As your mood changes you can change the colour of the LED lamps to match your mood and ambience.

Finale

Big Brother has been a ground breaking phenomenon.  It’s 11 series’ have brought us eye-catching design and the most modern of sought-after interiors.  It will be sorely missed by us at Ocean Bathrooms.

Luxury Bathroom Makeover

Friday, May 21st, 2010

We often get asked “What does it take to install a new bathroom?”

Well, we asked one of the Ocean Fitters, Mark Coleman (of Colemans of Dorset) to keep a photo diary of one of oure recent Bathroom projects.

As you can see from the Gallery below, Mark and his team did a cracking job in transforming this 1950’s style bathroom suite into a beautiful contemporary new look.

The main bathroom items are a mixture of Duravit Happy D and Starck 2 plus Hansgrohe Axor Raindance for the shower. Underfloor heating from Devimat and a fully tiled wet room completes the room.

The project was completed in about four weeks from start to finish and we hope you will agree the standard and finish of the completed bathroom is simply stunning!

Luxury Bathroom Parts List used in this Project

If you would like more information about creating your own luxury bathroom call Robert or Joe at Ocean Bathrooms. Pop into our fully working showroom to see many of the items used in this project.

We also have a full 3D Planning and design service where you can view your dream bathroom before it is installed.

The New Hansgrohe Raindance E420 Showerpipe

Friday, May 14th, 2010

Is there an art to Shower head design?

It is easy to become seduced by the look of a shower or a bathroom. As you pour yourself over the latest designs within magazines or websites and drool at the thought of stepping into a soul altering experience that will re-invigorate every fiber of your being you can’t help but want that product now.

The Hansgrohe Raindance E 420

The Hansgrohe Raindance E 420

I think that the new Hansgrohe Raindance E420 Showerpipe is no expection. It has an unusual, innovative design featuring an asymmetrically-positioned wall rail, wide thermostat and flat overhead shower.

The overhead shower element has a striking rectangular shape with softly-rounded corners and a new width of 420mm that perfectly follows the silhouette of the bather. For the very first time, a shower pipe offers multi-jet showering with a choice of two spray types available: a shoulder-wide air-enriched rain spray made possible by Hansgrohe AirPower technology, and a clear, wide flood jet for powerful and pampering showering enjoyment.

In addition to regulating the water temperature and volume, the spray types can also be easily switched via the thermostat. Following the principle of integrated design, the knobs for controlling the temperature and water volume and for changing between the shower and jet types, virtually disappear in the form of the thermostat, which is mounted flush with the wall without any visible connections.

K&B most wanted product

K&B most wanted product

Interestingly, in 2009 the Hansgrohe Raindance E420 Showerpipe has been chosen by readers of Kitchen & Bathrooms News as the “Most Wanted” bathroom item of 2009, having received more reader enquiries than any other product.

And now the science bit

Part of ensuring the perfect shower experience is to get the mechanics right. You need to be able to control the temperature, ensure the water pressure is right and perhaps to switch from overhead to body jets.

So it’s important to get the plumbing right. Consider whether your current boiler can produce the correct water pressure to fully benefit from the whole experience.

To enjoy a good pouring of water your shower does require a high-pressure system such as a combination boiler with water pressure between 2 to 3 bar. So before you order ensure that you speak to a qualified plumber or a reputable retailer.

Election 2010 – The great bathroom debate

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

So you’ve just moved into your new pad.  You may have paid too much, but you don’t mind, it was one of those must have properties that come round once in a life time, which strangely enough, wasn’t available for viewing before you moved in.  Whilst it’s not going to be your end house you still want to make your mark.  So you are in; you are excited you are looking to the future and have great plans to modernise.

Variety is the spice of life

Couture Crystal Wash Basin

Couture Crystal Wash Basin

As a bathroom specialist we encounter all taste.  Whether you like, the new black bathrooms; Modern styles and couture; perhaps you like all things quintessentially English.  Perhaps you need to keep up-to-date with the latest news with a bathroom television.  All tastes can usually be catered for.

So whilst all politicians try to control the perception of what the public think about them, however, behind closed doors they can be a little freer to express themselves.  We thought it might be interesting to put ourselves into the shoes of Messer’s Brown, Cameron and Clegg and our course their good lady wife’s and try and pick out which type of bathroom they might choose.  So in no particular order;

Mr and Mrs David Cameron

Hansgrohe RainBrainBoth Mr and Mrs Cameron are modern young professionals with a family.  Time, or the lack of it, is an important factor when designing a bathroom.  To this end we recommend a Hansgrohe PuraVida Overhead Shower.  It’s not cheap, but if you want to quickly jump into an invigorating shower that wakes you up in the morning and is great fun for the kids, we think it hits the mark.

Along with the Cleggs’, David and Samantha have children to think about.  And the daily bath time ritual is important for children.  We think fun should be the order of the day and lighting is the key.  Bathroom lighting and bubbles will inject lots of fun.

Mr & Mrs Nick Clegg

Airbath President

Airbath President

Now we’ve not heard much from Mrs Clegg this campaign as she has preferred to stay out of the limelight.  However, the Spanish Mrs Miriam Gonzalez Durantez Clegg who is a partner in an International law firm is clearly a woman who knows her own mind. As a professional couple with two children practicality is important.  Now practicality doesn’t need to be boring.  Victoria and Albert offer wide range of baths to cater for all appetites.  All durable, all stylish they bring a quintessential British feel to any bathroom.

However, with the prospects of Britain being presented with a hung parliament, this makes the choice of bath for the LibDems more interesting – who do you share with?  The Airbath President Double ended Bath could be the answer.  Not only will it fit two bathers, it can be fitted with underwater or Chromatherapy Lighting making the experience all the more relaxing, and restful.

Mr & Mrs Gordon Brown

Duravit wash basin

Duravit wash basin

In the event of a Labour win and currently in situ, spring is perfect times to consider freshening up the place. Following the recent mishap with Gillian Duffy we believe that Mr Brown has a dark side.  Taking this literally the Duravit Black range might be appropriate.

A black bathroom is a bold statement and a modern one at that.

Also, we would suggest including some Devimat underfloor heating, as there is nothing worse than getting cold feet.

Now you decide

As with a hung parliament, there were several styles of bathroom that split our votes evenly.  So as this is a democracy we thought it should be the people who should decide which bathroom best suited which candidate.

The transparent Crystal Bath.

The 20” Videotree videospa mirror bathroom television.

Croydex Doctors’ Mechanical Scales.

Echo Bath mirror with Mood lighting.

There is any number of ways to design a bathroom.  Ocean Bathrooms offer a wide range of luxury bathrooms to suit most taste.  To find out more visit our showroom in Bridport.

New Duravit Line – Vero black

Friday, April 30th, 2010

For more than a decade, white has been the uncontested favourite for sanitary ceramics. White = cool and sterile? Well maybe now things are changing. The New Duravit Line Vero Black is the new and bold choice. Black stands for exclusivity and elegance. It is also a statement of courage, decisiveness and unique styling.

The tradition of black and white

It’s an unwritten law that fashion trends eventually repeat themselves. The same is true of black in the bathroom. In the early 1980s, Duravit launched two complete bathroom ranges in black and, after this, black-and-white interplays of colour continued to make an appearance. Reflecting customer demand, Duravit again offers this bold look for the Bathroom, with the classic Vero washbasin, WC and bidet now available, in classy, high gloss black.

High-gloss is experiencing a renaissance

The Duravit range has classy painted fronts harmonized to perfection with glossy ceramic surfaces to give bathroom furniture a unique, high-quality look. In bathroom design, black allows attractive contrasts. Straight-lined and timeless, Vero is ideal for black-and-white colour schemes and looks completely at home in bathrooms of any style.

The Vero washbasins and sanitary ceramics also come with a special WonderGliss surface finish to help them remain clean and attractive for a long time to come.

Washbasins

The classic rectangular Vero washbasin has made a name for itself amongst lovers of design and architecture. That’s why, in addition to the 60 cm-wide washbasin, Duravit are now introducing three new models measuring 50, 80 and an imposing 100 cm, whose pre-punched tap holes offer the possibility to mount one or two tap fittings. The chrome console on two feet is height-adjustable +50mm and features a decorative rail that doubles up as a practical towel rail.

The practical Vero handrinse basin is ideal as an elegant cloakroom solution where space is at a premium. Other options include the Vero Vanity basin available in white, and the Vero Wash bowl ground, available in white or black colour.

Toilets & Bidets

Duravit toilet & bidets

The Vero range now includes a toilet and bidet – both wall mounted or floor-standing – in the same rectangular design style as the washbasin, and resting on a smaller rectangle block. The Vero Toilet close-coupled washdown model has an outlet for various connector sets and is available in colours white (alpine) and black. The Vero Cistern has a dual flush mechanism helping to conserve water.

The wall mounted Vero Bidet has an overflow, with tap platform and measures 370 x 540mm and again you can choose from colours of white (alpine) or black.
