St George, as far as I can make out from all the conflicting pieces of history, was a man who lived under the Romans. He was tortured to death for refusing to sacrifice to a pagan God under the orders of the pagan Roman emperor Diocletian. He was also seen fighting in the crusades urging the crusaders to English victory.

Mentioned in documents dating from the 9th century he also enjoyed a National feast day on par with Christmas from the early 15th century. But by the 18th century after the union of England and Scotland he fell into a serious decline. Perhaps the church no longer needed the sword wielding, dragon slayer to promote England abroad or maybe someone thought we should be celebrating the life of a saint who had led a more peaceful life.

In the city of Salisbury Wiltshire however no such decline happened and every year since the 13th century the city holds a St George’s Day Pageant and this still holds true for 2012. Thomas Crapper

Thomas Crapper on the other hand is definitely one of England’s unsung hero’s.

Here was a man whose foresight, ingenuity and damn right perseverance brought into being one of the greatest gifts to mankind. The toilet!! Where would we be without it? Or where would we pee without it?

There that’s just the sort of joke and tittering that go with the name.

Could we actually have a day dedicated to Crapper? Crapper Day?
After all, his name still is used every day by some people but perhaps not in the way originally intended!

Thomas Crapper’s obsession with the humble flushing loo, led him ultimately to royalty.

The Thomas Crapper toilet was granted no less than four Royal Warrants and Thomas Crapper himself was known as the Royal Plumber!

Personally I don’t think you can find a more English, Englishman than Thomas Crapper.

With our English obsession with the smallest room, how the loo flushes etc. We have taken the name Crapper and held it in our hearts!

Quiet Please! What do Royalty and Jamie Oliver have in common?

Well you might not believe me, when I tell you but it’s true. You can check it out for yourselves.

They really do have Crap in common, as in A crapper loo, The Royal Thomas Crapper loo in fact!

A friend and I went out for a meal in Birmingham, it happened to be one of Jamie Oliver’s restaurants. I popped into the toilet and couldn’t believe my eyes. There in front of me was every bathroom shop owners dream. The Thomas Crapper Edwardian low level cistern with ‘beer-engine’ handle. All I am going to admit to you lot is – I made the most of this occasion and used it reverently. After all it’s not every day that the common man gets to sit on a seat that is synonymous with royalty.

All of us have heard the word Crap or crapper but didn’t think it actually was the surname of one of England’s unsung heroes a Mr Thomas Crapper.

The Crapper reputation was such that in the 1880’s the firm was invited to supply sanitary ware to Sandringham, Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Westminster Abbey. Gaining the coveted Royal Appointment from King Edward V11 and again by George V. In fact I have it on good authority that only just recently the firm of Thomas Crapper & co were seen entering the royal smallest room in Sandringham and refurbishing the loo.

Yes even in our present day. Thomas Crapper sanitaryware is still being made in Great Britain.

Thomas Crapper relentlessly pioneered the flushing loo and to this end we have the loo that we use today and everyday so effortlessly.

Okay, we admit that a horizontal shower will not suit most bathrooms – you will need a lot of space and it is unconventional to say the least.    But convention is for the masses.  If you are looking for a unique bathroom that is unlike every other this shower system is perfect.
