Saniflo Toilets

Many people are opting to extend their homes today rather than move house. Installation of an additional or en-suite bathroom is a popular home improvement, however locating the facility just where you want can be tricky or even impossible, when difficulty accessing the main soil pipe makes a conventional installation unworkable. For a potential solution take a look at the Saniflo system which overcomes the need for conventional gravity plumbing and its associated four inch pipework. Such systems require only minimal installation work and can alleviate many intractable design and siting issues.

With Saniflo you can install a WC, an en-suite shower room and even a complete bathroom.  Saniflo macerator pumping systems enable you to add facilities almost anywhere – all you need is a water and electric power supply. The Saniflo macerator automatically activates, when required, and solves problems with drainpipe access, with some systems capable of  pumping waste over a distance of up to 100m and height of 8m. For piece of mind the battery operated SaniAlarm can also be quickly fitted onto the lid of the Saniflo unit to warn you if the water in the macerator rises to an unusually high level. The Saniflo system comes with a two year guarantee of quality.

There are different ‘Sani’ pumping systems available depending on your requirements, whether you plan to install a cloakroom with a toilet and basin or a full working bathroom suite.

Saniflo

Saniflo

Saniflo

Saniflo is a small bore macerator pump taking waste from a single toilet in a basement, loft conversion or extension. When the Toilet is flushed the unit automatically activates and offers vertical pumping to 4 m and horizontal pumping to 50m away. The waste pipes are small-bore 22 mm so they run neatly under floor boards, The redesigned casing provides noise reduction. The motor has no carbon brushes or gears to wear out.

Sanipack

Sanipack

The Sanipack unit is designed for use in built-in bathroom units and takes waste from a complete shower room including single toilet, washbasin, shower and bidet – ideal in any home improvement where conventional large bore pipework is impractical. The pump can be concealed behind a wall panel proving a great space safer for small bathrooms.

Saniplus

Ideal for complete bathroom installations, the Saniplus takes waste from a bath, power shower, hydromassage, bidet, toilet and wash basin. It has a powerful motor which is cased with sound reduction and has an integrated carbon filter.

Sanipro

Sanipro

Sanipro

The Sanipro is suitable for an en-suite shower room and will pump waste quickly and quietly from a single wc, wash basin, shower, power shower, hydromassage and bidet. The Sanipro is easy and economical to install, works with any style of sanitaryware (EN33 or EN37) and can be concealed behind a demountable panel to give access if required. The Sanipro pumps waste away through 22mm pipes up to 5 metres vertically or up to 100 metres horizontally or a lesser combination of both.

Sanishower

Sanishower

Sanishower

The Sanishower is ideal for a basement or loft conversion where you need to take waste and water for a shower cubicle and wash basin. Sanishower will pump away the waste from showers discharging up to 15 litres per minute. It can be concealed beneath the shower tray.

Sanicompact

The Sanicompact macerator is supplied built-in within cisternless ceramic toilets and can also take waste from the linked in wash basin. The Sanicompact is operated by an electronic programme which has 2 functions: by a push of the button a 25 second cycle is set in motion. When using the wash basin the Sanicompact motor starts automatically when the water enters the system.

Ten golden rules for correct Saniflo installation

The different Saniflo products are easy to install but you need to bear the following rules in mind when designing your bathroom suite.

  1. All horizontal pipes should have a minimum fall of 1:100 and discharge pipework should be copper or rigid solvent weld plastic, not ‘pushfit’.
  2. If a vertical run is needed, this should be at the start of the run (within 30cm of the unit) and from the high point there must be a minimum fall of 1:100 (reference rule
  3. Bends should have a smooth/long radius and not tight elbows. Examples of copper and plastic shown.
  4. Pipes entering the Saniflo should have a gravity fall of 1:33.
  5. Where the pipework falls to a lower floor for example, you should fit an air admittance value at the highest point capable of withstanding 10psi pressure, or increase the pipe size coming down to a ‘break’ siphon.
  6. Each Saniflo discharge pipe should run separately to the soil pipe. If wastes are combined, it can only be into a larger pipe, which is on a gravity fall.
  7. For easy maintenance, the unit should be easily accessible and removable, particularly if you plan to box-in the Saniflo. Any extension between the WC pan spigot and wall should not exceed 150mm.
  8. Many close coupled WC suites do not have the space between the WC pan spigot and the wall to house the Saniflo, however, you can overcome this if you batten the cistern off the wall. However, Sanislim will fit behind most closed coupled WC suites without the need for a batten.
  9. Position the Saniflo behind the toilet not underneath it.
  10. Electrical connection should be via an unswitched fixed wiring connector with a 5 amp fuse.
